“There are pristine, white sand beaches in the UK?”

Yes they exist!

As we are now well into the summer, here is a list of must-see beaches to see in the UK that you wouldn’t have dreamed of. 

1. Luskyntyre Beach – Harris, Scotland

When you think of Scotland, you usually don’t think of white sand beaches but there are so many! Located on the Isle of Harris of Outer Hebrides, Luskyntyre Beach is one of the most magical places with its white sand, turquoise waters, and mountainous views.

2. Durdle Door Beach – Dorset, England

Known for its feature in Nanny McPhee, the iconic limestone arch formed by the sea that is over 10,000 years old, makes Durdle Door Beach a must-see for its uniqueness and natural beauty.

Tip: It’s definitely worth getting there early for sunrise to beat the crowds that visit this amazing beach.

3. Bamburgh Castle Beach – Northumberland, England

If you’re looking for an untouched, quiet beach then Bamburgh Castle Beach is the perfect destination for you. Located in Northumberland, known for its breathtaking coastline and romantic architecture, it’s no surprise to find the beautiful Bamburgh Castle overlooking a white sand beach. Whilst you’re there, why not make a trip to Hadrian’s Wall; this year marks 1900 years since the wall was built by the Roman Empire! 

4. The Denes Beach – Suffolk, England

This idyllic beach decorated with brightly coloured huts, marshland and sand dunes, makes a perfect seaside visit. If you’re also into windsurfing, canoeing or going for a swim, then this is the place for you!

5. Barafundle Bay – Pembrokeshire, Wales

Backed by golden sand dunes and pine trees, this beach is a natural wonder. As the beach is only accessible by foot, this keeps the bay unspoiled and isolated; a perfect place to go sunbathing or to enjoy the waves and have a picnic.

6. Tyrella Beach – Downpatrick, Northern Ireland

Tyrella Beach is a hidden gem and conservation area, home to many beautiful, local flora and fauna and is known for its pristiness. As the beach is situated near a seaside town, you can find many delicious eateries serving fresh, local food!
